Adoption of super grommet:
The head gasket series for TOMEI EJ20 improves sealing performance by adopting a super grommet type with outstanding reliability.
Super grommet type:
The dual seal system of the bead structure and metal grommet maximizes the gas seal performance around the bore as well as the cooling water and oil seals.
Thermal conductivity and strength of stainless steel:
By using stainless steel with high thermal conductivity for the gasket material, the heat at the upper end of the cylinder block can be transferred to the cylinder head side for effective cooling. Since it does not become hot locally, it is difficult for blow-by to occur.
In addition, since stainless steel has high strength, it is advantageous against blow-through, and the joint rigidity between the head and block can be increased. A strong connection between the head and the block increases the rigidity of the entire engine, reduces torsion and bending, and improves the durability of the moving part bearings.
The gas sealing characteristics will improve with the raised rib, but the sealing characteristics of the neighbouring water and oil channels are equally reduced.
Therefore, when pushing for power gains, these areas are weak points that can allow leakages. The TOMEI design focuses on all areas to provide the maximum seal with the use of the super grommet design. By using the rib height to ensure an equal overall high surface pressure seal, where it is needed the most.
