Description
This drain plug helps to prevent water and debris from entering the cabin from the sunroof drainage hoses. This drain plug also allows water to pass through the firewall via the sunroof drain hoses to maintain the sunroof’s tight seal. Over time this plug may be subject to the weather and may need to be replaced.
These sunroof drainage exit points can be found in the top corners of the firewall next to the A-pillars. It is the main cause of water found on the drivers and passengers floor of your Nissan Skyline or Crossover models.
The baffle on the exit-side of the drain is known for clogging up which causes water to leak into the cabin of the vehicle and soaking the floor carpets. Over time the gasket that surrounds this drain starts to deteriorate which can also cause a leak.
Note:
Some customers cut out the baffle and attach a 30~50mm length hose in its place to allow the water to flow past the firewall without having to worry about water making its way back into the cabin area onto the floor.
This is a recommended “mod” to do to prevent the dreaded water-soaked floors on both driver and passenger sides before re-fitting the new drainage plugs.
This will prevent future problems with these drainage plugs being clogged once again with debris causing water to leak again into the cabin area.
